Sarah Kim, Assistant Professor of Cello at Miami University in Oxford, OH and executive director of Cincinnati Young Artists, is an acclaimed instructor who was named the 2016 Ohio String Teachers Association Studio Teacher of the Year, and is the recipient of a 2015 Cincinnati Arts Association Overture Educator Award.

Alan Rafferty, University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music cello faculty and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra cellist, has presented master classes at the New World Symphony, Northwestern University, and the Cleveland Institute of Music among others.  In the summers, Mr. Rafferty is on the faculty of the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Burlington, Vermont.

*About the Skill, Will, Thrill presentation: It’s not unusual to encounter practice roadblocks such as lagging motivation, tedium, and low morale.  Hours can be spent with the feeling that nothing has been achieved, leading to exasperation and declining productivity.  Dr. Kim will share strategies for building SKILLS for goal setting and efficient practice, maintaining the WILL to engage in inspired practice, and attaining the THRILL of artistic comprehension through motivation.
